The Infant Feeding Team
Under normal circumstances, your midwife / maternity support team will be able to support you with feeding your baby. However, we also have an infant feeding team who focus on situations where feeding may be more challenging, and your midwife will refer to the team if specialist support is needed. The infant feeding team also run infant feeding / tongue tie clinics and provide education for hospital staff.
We are normally available Monday to Friday on the postnatal ward. We can develop care plans with you to ensure that you and your baby have the best start to breastfeeding.
We can also discuss your baby’s feeding needs with you if you know in your pregnancy of potential difficulties such as cleft lip / palate or previous breast surgery, or if your baby has a tongue tie.
