20th September 2019
Respiratory Nurses at the L&D are lending their support to Global Pulmonary Fibrosis Month with an information stand in main reception on Tuesday 24 September from 9am to 2pm.
More people die from pulmonary fibrosis than from leukaemia and many other cancers but it is a little known disease. The most common form – Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis – has no known cause and is a mystery to many – even in the medical profession.
The Luton & South Beds Local Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group are joining people across the world during Global Pulmonary Fibrosis month in September to raise awareness of a lung disease which kills 6,000 people every year in the UK, more than half within three to five years of diagnosis.
