Public Governor Election 2023 – the process commenced on 1 June
The Trust gave notice that it will hold elections to the Council of Governors for Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust which includes Luton and Dunstable University Hospital and Bedford Hospital.
Elections are currently being held for the following number of governors in the following Public and Staff Constituencies:
Constituency and Class:
- Public – Central Bedfordshire – 2 seats
- Public – Hertfordshire – 1 seat
The election process commenced on the 1 June 2023, and will finish on 24 August 2023 at 5pm. The results will be available on the 25 August 2023.
The Medical Lecture on – Orthopaedic treatment for adults and children – Your knees, hips and spine! was held Wednesday, 9 October 2019
Orthopaedic team diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions of the musculoskeletal system. This includes bones, joints and their associated structures that enable movement – ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves.
Here at the L&D we provide a comprehensive service dealing with all acute and chronic musculoskeletal problems. We also provide daily Fracture and Elective outpatient clinics in our recently, purpose built Orthopaedic Hub based on Dunstable Road. Our consultant-led service is renowned for its innovative approach and pioneering surgery.
The lecture was well attended there were approximately 200 public members and patients who benefited. The lecture was presented by:
- Clinical Director & Consultant, Jim Gray: Introduced the team
- Consultant Tarique Parwez: Your knees and hips – What is joint replacement?
- Clinical Lead Irene Fitt, Sister Aimee Ford, Physiotherapist Jenny Simpson and Senior Sister Rita Patel: Enhanced recovery from your operations – discharged within a day or two
- Consultan Dimpu Bhagawati: Spinal services for issues with your back
- Consultant Shobhit Verma: Musculosketal services for children
This took place from 5.30pm to 7.30pm on 9 October 2019, at Central Bedfordshire College, Dunstable (Main Campus), LU5 4HG. There was time for questions following the presentation and the opportunity for informal discussions with our L&D Governors, from 5.30pm.

Annual Members’ Meeting of the Luton & Dunstable University Hospital Foundation Trust is being held on Wednesday, 11 September at 5.30pm for 6pm start at the L&D Hospital ‘Social Club’, Calnwood Road, Luton LU4 0DZ.

L&D Public/Staff Governor Election 2019 – The process commenced on 11th June
The Trust gives notice that it will hold Council of Governors Election 2019 of the Luton and Dunstable NHS Foundation Trust. Nomination closed on Tuesday 2 July 2019 at 5pm. The ballot papers were issued to the Trust Members in the eligible constituencies 19 July. The poll closed at 5pm on Thursday 8th August 2019.

Medical Lecture on ‘Arthritis – What is it & how is it managed?’, Wednesday 8 May
Time: 6.00pm – 7.30pm
Venue: Luton Sixth Form College, Bradgers Hill Road, Luton, LU2 7EW
The lecture was well attended there were more than 300 members and patients who benefited. The lecture was presented by Consultants Dr Daniel Fishman, Dr Marian Chan and Physiotherapists Esam Mohamed.
