Helen Prince
Helen arrived in England by ship in 1959 from Grenada when she was only 19 years old.
It took Helen 28 days to arrive in this country where her husband, Joseph Prince who arrived in England previously, was awaiting her at the docks with a big winter coat to take her to their new home.
After initially working as a seamstress for a number of years, Helen began her NHS journey at Weller Wing, Bedford Hospital as a Mental Health Nursing Assistant in 1982 and trained to become a Mental Health Nurse in later years. Helen retired from Bedford Hospital in 2006 after 24 years of NHS service. When Helen passed away in 2016, she did not just leave behind a legacy of five amazing children but a legacy of passion to help and care for others. A legacy that inspired one of her granddaughters, Louanna.
