Notice of Election: Council of Governors Election 2024

The Trust gives notice that it will hold elections to the Council of Governors for Bedfordshire Hospitals
NHS Foundation Trust which includes Luton and Dunstable University Hospital and Bedford Hospital.
Elections are to be held for the following number of governors in the following Public Constituencies.

Constituency and Class:

  • Public – Luton – 3 seats
  • Public – Central Bedfordshire – 4 seats
  • Public – Hertfordshire – 1 seat
  • Staff – Nursing & Midwifery (including Healthcare Assistants) (at L&D site) – 1 seat
  • Staff – Non Clinical (at L&D site) – 2 seats
  • Staff – Non Clinical (at Bedford site) – 1 seat
  • Staff – Professional, Technical & Pharmacy (at Bedford site) – 1 seat
  • Staff – Medical & Dental (at L&D site) – 1 seat

To stand for election you must be a member of the Trust within the Constituency and Class for which
you wish to stand as a candidate. If you do not know which Constituency or Class you are in, please
contact the Returning Officer using the contact details below.

Nominations

Nominations may be completed online or returned by post or email. To access the online nomination
portal or download a nomination form in PDF format please visit https://nom.uk-engage.org/bh/

Completed nominations must be received by the Returning Officer no later than 5pm on Friday,
5 July 2024. Please do not return nomination papers to the L&D Hospital or to the Bedford Hospital. If you are sending your form by post please allow sufficient time for it to arrive before the deadline.

Criteria

In order to participate in the election as a candidate or voter you must be a member of the Trust on or
before the closing date for the receipt of nominations.

Notice of withdrawal of candidates must be given to the Returning Officer in writing by 5pm on
Wednesday, 10 July 2024 at the address given for delivery of nominations.

In the event of a contested election a ballot will be held and details will be sent by post to qualifying
members. Completed votes must be received by the Returning Officer no later than the
close of poll at 5pm on Thursday, 22 August 2024.
