Demi Clark (L&D)
Congratulations to Demi Clark from Paediatrics for winning the ROSE Award! Demi had finished a 12-hour shift and was going home when she encountered a road traffic accident – her quick action saved a child’s life, getting him to hospital as soon as possible and ensuring he was seen by the Resus team and treated quickly.
Father of patient
“Demi finished a 12-hour shift, and whilst walking home took responsibility as a first responder for our son.
“Our son was in a road traffic accident and there was a 3-hour wait for an ambulance, Demi travelled back to her work with our son in a neighbour’s car and handed over to the Emergency Department. This made the transition efficient and quick.
“There is no doubt Demi’s selflessness saved our sons life. A true hero, a true earth angel.”
Mother of patient
“Demi was on the way back from work, she saw a car had hit my son; and that he was in the road with a head injury. Demi took charge of the situation, came back to the hospital and did not leave until my son was seen by the Resuscitation team.
“Without Demi’s help, I do not know if he would have come through the accident. She went above and beyond.”
Patient’s relative
“I think Demi is an angel that was sent down to help others, not only that Demi was there at the right time to help save the patient. I have so much respect for her.”
