Functional Skills

Maths and English qualifications are hugely beneficial in supporting future career options and are foundational skills for employment and educational opportunities.

If you would like support to gain these skills, we can refer you to Bedfordshire Employment and Skills Academy who deliver Level 1 and Level 2 Maths and English courses. All of their courses are free (subject to eligibility) and are aimed at adults (19+). Each full Functional Skills qualification is approximately 60 learning hours spread across 31 weeks; however, it may be possible for you to fast-track and take your exam earlier if you have covered the whole course.

We strongly suggest that anyone wanting to access an apprenticeship has maths and English qualifications equivalent to a GCSE at grade 4 to 9 (C or above).
