Cauldwell Centre

The Cauldwell Centre hosts a range of services on the Bedford Hospital South Wing site including Cauldwell Medical Centre, Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC), Walk in X-Ray Service and Outpatients.

Please check your letter as to where you need to attend for your visit.

Ground Floor

The ground floor includes the Cauldwell Medical Centre, Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) and the Walk In X-Ray Service.

Cauldwell Medical Centre

Cauldwell Medical Centre is a GP practice for members of the community in central Bedford.

Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC)

The Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC), located on the ground floor, is open from 11am – 11pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and will offer same day access to GP and Nurse appointments. The UTC is for when patients need urgent medical treatment but it is not an emergency. The UTC is open to all those living in and visiting Bedfordshire.

Walk in X-Ray Service

The walk in x-ray service is open Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays, from 8:45am to 4:45pm.

This service is only available to patients who have a GP referral.

There is one x-ray machine but two members of staff will be available.

Please note the service is unable to assist individuals who require a hoist or the support of a wheelchair due to the constraints of the waiting area. These patients will be re-directed to our main x-ray rooms.

The service is located on the first right as you enter the ground floor of the Cauldwell Centre. If you are being dropped off, follow the A&E entrance on Ampthill Road onto the Bedford Hospital South Wing site and carry on straight ahead. It’s a one way system therefore the vehicle will have to turn right before the Cauldwell Centre and follow the road around to leave.

If you are parking, the closest car parks are the Britannia Road Patient Car Park or the Britannia Road staff and visitor car park. The Cauldwell Centre car park is officially for users of the Cauldwell Medical Centre. All other Bedford Hospital / Cauldwell Centre users should use the other car parks.

First Floor

The first floor is dedicated to Outpatients services.

Outpatients

You may have your outpatients appointment at a clinic either within our Main Outpatients Department (near A&E and opposite the Cauldwell Centre) or within our new outpatients space on the first and second floor of the Cauldwell Centre.
