Because of You – Shand Ward

The charity team have recently supported with a new room on Shand Ward – The Blossom Room. This room is dedicated to end of life patients on the ward. This is to give them a room which is calm, serene and as least clinical as we can make it. From the beautiful sky panel to the room décor, this room is one special place.

The ward team have worked extremely hard to put in their Rehab Café – a place for patients to go which gives them a reason to get out of bed, get dressed and have somewhere else to sit. Within the café there is a TV, arts and crafts and a place to make a real cup of coffee or tea.

This section allows staff and family members to also assess how the patient or loved one would cope at home after a stroke. Simple things like making a drink or a snack is essential to daily life and to their independence.

The new moto med bike will also give patients the opportunity to build their muscles while on the ward as a part of an exercise scheme to get them back to some or full mobility after stroke.
