Theatres Appeal

We have reached our target to fundraise for four “Theatre Pods” specifically catered to paediatric patients as well as adults with sensory needs.

The ‘Theatre pods’ are designated spaces for both adults and paediatric patients to ‘check in’ and use prior to their surgery and return to after their time in Recovery, ready to be discharged. The sensory pods are designed to be completely child friendly. With the funds raised, we will be able to make the space feel less clinical and more comfortable so that a child who may be about to undergo surgery does not feel as scared or anxious as they might have in a regular clinical setting.

We are planning to vinyl wrap the walls with colourful, yet soothing images, as well as introducing interactive projectors and specialist lighting. These spaces will make a significant difference to the people who use them to make sure they feel completely safe and comfortable during their surgery experience.

How to support our Theatres team

We are now fundraising to support the Staff Rest Room for our Theatres team! Our Theatres team work long and intensive shifts, undertaking incredibly detailed and focused work. It is essential that they are able to access restful and comfortable areas to recuperate during and after their shifts. We are fundraising for comfortable seating-sofas and armchairs, a docking station to listen to music, a bookcase and artwork to provide calming images.
