Laura Kelly

Laura Kelly, from the Oncology team at Bedford received this award by consistently demonstrating empathy, calmness, and genuine interest in an elderly patient, to the appreciation of the patient and his daughter.

“My father is 96 years old and recently visited Bedford Hospital several times. He sees Laura who makes the visits and treatments as easy and pleasant as possible with her friendly and professional manner. He has several medical conditions, which she always takes an interest in, never rushes our appointments, and takes the time to speak with an elder gentleman with compassion and genuine interest.

“She is very informative and answers questions slowly and clearly, involving my father in his treatment. We recognise that all staff are very busy and under immense pressure, but this is never apparent at appointments with Laura and my father feels reassured and calm with his visits.

“Laura is a dedicated, caring, smart, and friendly member of the NHS team.”
