Intensive care

It is an exciting time at the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital as a number of our services will be moving to the brand new Acute Services Block and New Ward Block in Autumn 2025.

Through this work, the Trust will be able to increase capacity, improve sustainability and efficiency, maintain and improve quality standards and support patient-centred clinical services. Care will be delivered in modern, uplifting and fit for purpose environments and will enhance the patient experience.

The new facilities for intensive care will accommodate patients who require an increased level of care and additional capacity, allowing patients to be cared for in one location.

Isolation facilities will have improved circulation and large bays enabling staff with the space to care for patients in modern surroundings.

The new location will allow natural light with rooms facing either the outside or the courtyard area. In addition, patients and staff will be able to access a designated area on an external balcony for much needed outdoor space.

Facilities will also be located in close proximity of theatres for those being transferred to the unit.

Take a look below at the benefits and what our staff have to say – we’d love you to be part of our team!
