Most people who come to see us do not have breast cancer. If we do find that you have breast cancer please be reassured that our team of Doctors and Nurses will be here to support you and guide you through treatment, and that treatment is generally very successful.
If you have a breast cancer diagnosis then surgery is often part of the treatment, which is likely to be to the breast and the axillary (armpit) lymph nodes. Cancer surgery to the breast may involve removal of part of the breast (breast conserving surgery sometimes with local flap replacement or therapeutic mammoplasty) or the entire breast (mastectomy).
If mastectomy is required we will discuss your options for breast reconstruction with you, which can include implant reconstruction, LD flap reconstruction, autologous reconstruction (DIEP flap or TUG flap) or goldilocks mastectomy.
