I assist individuals with a wide range of mental health problems, as well as help them to overcome adverse life events, such as impending loss of loved ones, break-ups, relationship issues, sleep disorders (insomnia), stress depression, social anxiety, health anxiety, past trauma, phobias, eating disorders, and even aiding people on their personal development journey.
I have a breath of experience in working with individuals experiencing a sudden life transition which they are struggling to adjust to, in particular health related issues.
As part of my former NHS roles, I have been working with individuals affected by a wide range of mental health and physical health problems including cancer, HIV, organ transplants, palliative care needs and other long term conditions.
After my doctorate in clinical psychology training I have received further training in EMDR, ACT, group analysis and CBT. I can adapt my practice to suit the needs of individuals, as well as providing couples therapy, family therapy or group therapy. I use an integrative approach that incorporates aspects of each therapeutic model, whilst being mindful of patients cultural back grounds and unique life experiences.
I am very well equipped in managing and diffusing highly emotionally charged situations. When appropriate, I facilitate the delivery of sensitive information such as breaking bad news and advance care planning. Also, due to my role and the multi-cultural setting that I work in, I am very sensitive to how cultural diversity affects how individuals respond to medical recommendations, advice and support.
I have a wealth of experience in assessing individuals wishing to undergo cosmetic or bariatric surgery and providing psychological reports to the surgeons with recommendations. As part of this role, I provide psychological support to individuals post-surgery to optimise the success of the bariatric procedure. I also deliver individual and couple therapy to support with any aspect of relationship issues or individual emotional difficulties.
I have an interest in neurodiversity and I have acquired the relevant competencies in assessing and diagnosing high functioning autism in adults, so that I will be able to support these individuals to achieve their best possible potential.
I have a strong interest in trauma especially in relation to adverse health conditions. I work mainly with adults but I have also experience in working with teenagers and younger children in the context of family therapy.
