Staff Profiles

Justine, Therapy Technician:
I have been employed by the Therapies Department for the last 22 years and during that time worked within many specialities. I have always been very proud to work with such a dynamic and supportive team. The Department has faced many different challenges over the years and as a team we have faced these challenges head on. The support I have received from my immediate teams and departmental management allowed me to develop as a person and professionally.

Tom, Band 5:
As a junior physiotherapist I feel that I am trusted to independently manage a large case load of patients and my seniors are always happy to provide help and answers whenever I have any difficulties. The staff that make up our physiotherapy & OT department as well as the wider MDT have made me feel welcome since day one. They treat me as a valued member of our fantastic team that delivers excellent, holistic care to all of our patients. Exposure to the on-call rota is extremely well handled with valuable teaching upon joining the trust, regular staff training and the possibility to conduct visits to various clinical areas in order to develop and maintain our competencies.

Georgina, Band 6:
After finishing my degree I worked at the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital as a bank band 6 for a few months. Fast forward to a few years later, I wanted to specialise within paediatrics and a job had come up and I knew it was time to go back! I love my job, it is so varied and everyday is different – I work on the paediatric wards, neonatal unit and outpatients. The department as a whole are extremely friendly and supportive especially the management team. In our team we have regular in service training and I have been lucky enough to go on two external courses, to help with my continuing professional development.

Marcella, Band 7:
I am the Specialist DME Occupational Therapist and DME Team Lead. My time at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital so far has been a great experience after moving from a general hospital where I was a band 6 Medicine OT. I was nervous about my transition to band 7 and the extra responsibilities I would have. The therapy team here have been extremely supportive and given me the time and oppotunity to develop my skills as a team lead. I am currently doing a Management and Leadership Diploma to help me develop in my career, as well as giving me the skills to support my team and help us change and develop to ensure we are providing an effective and efficient service, striving to provide the highest possible standard of intervention with our patients.
